Leeds United’s Rasmus Kristensen has been on loan at AS Roma since the start of this season.

Operating mainly as a right wing-back, he has made nine appearances for the Serie A side and has one assist to his name.

Corriere dello Sport say the Leeds owned player’s displays haven’t been impressive and label him a ‘flop’. They also explain why the Italian club ‘didn’t need’ to sign him in the last window.

Apart from the 26-year-old, José Mourinho has used Zeki Çelik and Rick Karsdorp for the same position.

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto was convinced he would sell Rick Karsdorp in the last window. That didn’t happen and the latter’s decision to stay seems to have left Kristensen in a difficult situation.

Taking the Denmark international’s performances into account, the newspaper suggests it would have been better if Karsdorp hadn’t arrived.

Corriere highlights how Mourinho had ‘shown signs of discontent’ towards the Leeds United man, specifically during the match against Hellas Verona in August.

They add Karsdorp didn’t have a good game in Roma’s last league defeat to Inter Milan, and also blame him for not putting the ‘slightest pressure’ on Federico Dimarco who set up the winning goal.

According to Corriere, the clash against Inter should have been a redemption match for the Whites defender. Instead, it showed why he’s having ‘difficulties in adapting’ to the needs of Italian football.

Pinto’s decision to sign the Dane from Leeds has left fans perplexed as they believe the money for his salary could have been spent on another player in a different position.

Corriere end the report by stating: ‘A mystery now useless to solve, Kristensen has the task of overturning the opinions, convincing every one of his qualities and his usefulness in the Giallorossi team. And it certainly won’t be easy.’
