Leeds United’s Mateusz Klich won’t make it to the Poland squad for the 2022 World Cup since he has had ‘big problems’ with the national team since the start of this year, as per TVP Sport.
Czesław Michniewicz was appointed as the Poland manager in January. He included the Whites midfielder in his squad for UEFA Nations League fixtures in June, where the latter made two appearances.
The 32-year-old has struggled for minutes at Leeds this term and is yet to make a start in the league. His only start came in the EFL Cup in August.
Klich’s lack of game time with Jesse Marsch’s side didn’t impact his national team call-up in the last international break, where he was restricted to one appearance from the bench. He has played for 100 minutes across three matches under Michniewicz’s orders for Poland.
TVP Sport state both the Leeds player and Torino’s Karol Linetty have dropped down the pecking order because they don’t fit into the current system under Michniewicz.
Despite having ‘hope that is dying’, the report explains Marsch’s man and Linetty already have a thought of accepting defeat of making it to Qatar with Poland.
Klich, meanwhile, has an ‘additional problem’ at Leeds since his playing opportunities have been restricted this season.
These factors indicate it is no longer a secret that Klich [and Linetty] are set to miss out on a place in the Poland squad for the upcoming FIFA tournament.
