Leeds United have made a second effort to sign Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, after trying to sign him in the summer.
That’s according to journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, who says the player instead prefers a move to Lorient thanks to their ‘project’.
Dieng was extremely close to joining Leeds in the summer transfer window, when Victor Orta and co were on the hunt for a new centre-forward for Jesse Marsch’s side.
They appeared to have wrapped up a deal only for Dieng not to take a flight to head to Elland Road for his medical, instead preferring a move elsewhere at the end of the window.
He subsequently failed the medical at his preferred destination and ended up staying at Marseille, where he again finds himself on the exit ramp this month.
Everton have recently been linked with a move but Toubache-Ter says Leeds also ‘came at the last moment’ to explore a potential move.
Dieng, though, isn’t interested, though, with him and his representatives making it clear that their preference is to move to Lorient as they have an attractive project and can offer him the playing time he wants.
That is something Leeds cannot, it seems, and the Whites would perhaps be wise to give up on Dieng once and for all.
Sur le dossier Bamba Dieng, Leeds mais surtout Everton sont venus au dernier moment.
Le joueur ainsi que son représentant ont eu une position claire: le projet lorientais & le temps de jeu. #FCLorient #OM
