Leeds United have been thrown in with Napoli in the battle to sign Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić this summer.

Journalist Ciro Venerato covers Leeds’ interest in the 28-year-old when discussing the Serie A winners’ summer plans for Rai’s La Domenica Sportiva and CalcioNapoli24 have relayed his comments.

Venerato claims Napoli have to be wary of Leeds in the race to sign the Torino player.

“For the goal, however, the new name is that of Milinković-Savić. Napoli are following him carefully but will have to deal with competition from Leeds. They are also interested in the goalkeeper,” he said.

Leeds United’s desire to sign the Serbia international is also reported by another Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio.

He explains Daniel Farke’s side have contacted the Turin club in the ‘last few hours’ to ask information about the stopper. Di Marzio adds Napoli are also in the picture, but they haven’t made a move so far.

The goalkeeper has less than a year left on his contract, with an option for another year. According to Di Marzio, he has a €19m release clause for Italian clubs and €21m for clubs abroad.

Leeds belong to the latter category, meaning they can sign Milinković-Savić in this window by activating his €21m clause.

The Serbian kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 44 goals from 39 games last season.
