Leeds United ‘have been informed’ that forward Crysencio Summerville wants to leave Elland Road this summer as former club Feyenoord debate a move.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who say the player has made it clear that he does not see himself playing Championship football and instead wants to move so he can focus on getting into the Netherlands squad for the European Championship in 2024.
Former club Feyenoord, where the forward spent three years working his way up the youth ranks between 2017 and 2020 before his move to Leeds, are debating a possible deal to bring him back.
Manager Arne Slot has already spoken to the player about a potential move on a phone call, but the Dutch side have not made any further approaches than that at this time.
The club’s management and Supervisory Board acknowledge the ‘exceptional qualities’ of the player, but there are ‘slight questions’ being asked about him and past events at the club.
They’re particularly concerned about a well-known locker room incident that led to his departure from Feyenoord, while there is also a debate about whether the club should spend ‘a huge amount of money’ to re-sign a former youth player.
The Dutch club are also prioritising a left winger rather than a right winger, meaning a move for Summerville is not at the top of their list for now.
The interest is there, though, and Summerville is keen to move on from Leeds to fuel his international ambitions for next season.
