Leeds United are very interested in St. Gallen full-back Isaac Schmidt and willing to pay to secure his signature.
That’s according to Blick, who report that a departure is not out of the question for the 24-year-old.
The newspaper reports that Schmidt is high on Leeds’ shopping list at the end of the transfer window, and they are prepared to pay around €1m to secure his signature.
He has a contract until 2026 with the Swiss team, who he has been with since moving from Lausanne-Sport in July 2021.
The newspaper likens him to former Leeds man Ezgjan Alioski. He made a similar move from Lugano to Leeds and stayed at Elland Road for four years. Willy Gnonto also swapped Switzerland for Leeds in September 2022.
Schmidt could be the third player to make the move, although it is unclear whether St. Gallen would accept a €1m offer from Leeds for him. Blick do not say as much.
They simply state that Leeds are keen on the full-back and willing to pay €1m to take him to Elland Road before the end of the transfer window.
Daniel Farke’s side are not in desperate need of a left back at present given they have Junior Firpo and Sam Byram, but it seems their eyes are on Schmidt, nonetheless.
