Torino are growing confident over a deal for Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri, but it is tied closely to the arrival of James Trafford.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Torino are close to finalising a deal for Perri, who already has an agreement in place with the Italian club.
Leeds exit closing in
Sport Witness have covered several reports on the impending departure of Lucas Perri from Elland Road this week.
The first of those explained that Trafford’s arrival at Elland Road would free up Perri to leave Leeds this summer. A second report, then explained that Torino had made their first move for the 28-year-old.
TMW now report that Torino are close to finalising a deal for the Brazilian goalkeeper. According to them, Torino’s Gianluca Petrachi – their sporting director – has already reached an agreement with the goalkeeper. He has also struck a deal with Leeds for a loan with an option to buy.
However, there is one snag. The move hinges on James Trafford’s arrival at Leeds this summer. The green light for Perri will only come once the goalkeeper has been replaced.
Torino confidence
There is, though, optimism within Torino’s camp and the belief is that the wait could be ‘a matter of just a few days’. They clearly feel that Trafford’s arrival is in the final stages, thus they can then get Perri post-haste.
The Brazilian goalkeeper appears determined to leave Elland Roa after just a year at Leeds following his move from Lyon last summer.
He was signed to be the new number one and started the season in that position but quickly found himself out of favour under Daniel Farke. By the end of the season, he had been replaced by veteran Karl Darlow.
Now Leeds are moving to secure a new, long-term number one in Trafford. And that will free Lucas Perri to head to Torino, perhaps in the coming days.
