Leeds United and Burnley ‘have come forward’ and made it clear they would be keen on signing Charles de Ketelaere from AC Milan this summer, if he is made available on loan.
That’s according to Le Soir, who say a temporary move could allow the young Belgian to ‘rebound’ after a disastrous first year in Italy.
The 22-year-old joined Milan in a €32m deal from Club Brugge last summer, arriving at the club as one of the highest rated prospects in Europe after his performances in Belgium.
He’s been unable to live up to his price tag or reputation, though, managing just one assist in 29 league games and featuring in just 35% of the available minutes to boot.
That has led to suggestions that he could be moved on in the summer and Le Soir cover that today, stating that Milan do not want to sell the player as that would go against their strategy of making capital gains when selling players.
That would not be possible with De Ketelaere after his poor season and so a loan may be an option as it would allow him to ‘rebound’ and bring his value back up.
Aware of this, Burnley, Leeds and Atalanta ‘have come forward’ to make it clear they would be more than happy to take him on.
Leeds interest in the player is nothing new as they battled with Milan for much of last summer to sign him. Burnley are hardly surprising either given Vincent Kompany’s love for all things Belgium since his arrival.
At the moment a move to either side has been rejected by Milan as they want to keep the player, but it is a situation to keep an eye on in case that stance changes ahead of the summer.
