Leeds United forward Luis Sinisterra is set to travel to former club Feyenoord with AFC Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi for a farewell at the Dutch club.
The Eredivisie side announced today that they plan to hold a farewell to their former players ahead of their final game of 2022.
The two South American players, who remain friends in England, left for the Premier League this summer with Sinisterra joining Leeds in a €25m deal and Senesi leaving for Bournemouth in a €15m move.
The pair have not looked back since, establishing themselves as key players at their new clubs and featuring regularly in the busy pre-World Cup schedule.
That’s left little time to say goodbye to the clubs in which they were formed in Europe, but Feyenoord report the duo have ‘found a slot’ later this year to do so.
They explain that the club will hold an ‘official farewell’ alongside an event for club icon Jens Toornstra, which had been ‘another wish of the club and supporters’.
This is something of a tradition for the Dutch side, who like ‘to dwell in an appropriate manner’ on the departure of players who have ‘meant a lot’ to the club.
The Bournemouth defender falls into that slow after making 116 appearances following a move from San Lorenzo in 2019 while Sinisterra was ‘an absolute crowd favourite’ before his move to Leeds.
The pair will now be given an official farewell in front of fans on Sunday 13th November, with a date also being sought for Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia.
