Leeds United and Sunderland may have to abandon any hopes of signing Artem Dovbyk from AS Roma this month as he’s now injured.

Roma Giallorossi.it cover the situation today. They report that the Ukrainian striker underwent instrumental examinations today after being forced off in yesterday’s game.

Clinical tests have revealed a minor muscle tear to his left thigh. Any serious complications have been ruled out but it will still force the Roma striker into a period of rest and ‘differentiated training’.

Roma’s medical staff plan to monitor his progress daily, assessing him to determine his recovery time more accurately. No official deadlines have been set, but he’s definitely out of action.

That’s bad news for Leeds and Sunderland, who had both reportedly been eyeing moves. A report at the weekend stated that both were ‘very interested’ in the striker this month. It also stated that a move to England was most likely out of the options in front of him.

We’d expect that interest has now dwindled considerably. It would make very little sense for Leeds or Sunderland to be interested after his latest injury. That’s especially when Roma seem uncertain how long he’s going to be out anyway.
