Leeds and Aston Villa in mix to sign ‘star player’ – 19 goal-contributions midfielder on the move

Leeds United and Aston Villa are among several clubs chasing Toulouse’s Branco van den Boomen.

Operating in the middle of the pitch, he’s scored six goals and registered 13 assists from 38 games this season. His form has caught the attention of the Premier League duo and other clubs.

That’s according to Takvim, who mention Leeds and Aston Villa in a report explaining the desire from Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray to sign him in the summer.

In order to beat Galatasaray and other clubs in the transfer race, Jorge Jesus’ side have offered the ‘star player’ a three-year contract worth €2m per season. The Dutchman has asked for some time to reflect on the Yellow Canaries’ proposal.

The 27-year-old has a contract expiring in June. Leeds, Aston Villa, Marseille, Feyenoord, Sevilla, VfL Wolfsburg and the two Turkish clubs are following his situation.

It’s also stated Van den Boomen, who has ‘decided not to continue’ with the Ligue 1 side, is ‘looking for a new adventure’ next season. This, coupled with him not accepting Fenerbahçe’s offer so far would give hope to Leeds and Aston Villa.

Takvim also points out the midfielder favours a move to Turkey, meaning the Whites and Unai Emery’s side will have to hurry up, if they wish to secure his services for free in the summer.
