The French media continue to insist Jonathan David has no intention of signing for Leeds United. Currently playing for Gent, the attacker sat out of training on Friday and missed a friendly at the weekend, as claims around his future continue to grow.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been repeatedly linked, and Gent themselves have revealed the Whites have made a serious approach for David, however, he has his mind set on moving elsewhere.

Lille are keen to sign David as a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who has just left the Ligue 1 club for Napoli. L’Equipe report Lille have offered a package worth €30m in total, yet Gent continue to be reluctant to sanction the move.

The Belgian club have been annoyed by Lille’s tactics over the transfer, after they contacted the player and turned his head before agreeing a fee. Lille’s intention was likely to then try and force Gent into accepting a lowered fee, but that plan hasn’t worked.

L’Equipe state David is only interested in signing for Lille, and won’t end up elsewhere, ‘at least not at Leeds’.
