STVV defender Ameen Al-Dakhil was not disappointed to miss out on a move to Burnley, despite their efforts to sign him.
That’s according to his sister Maryam, who insists the player is happy in Sint-Truiden for the time being.
It proved to be a busy summer of change for Burnley, with Vincent Kompany working to overhaul the squad he inherited from Sean Dyche.
No fewer than 16 new faces arrived at Turf Moor for an outlay of €24.05m, with Kompany focusing on the Belgian league following his time at Anderlecht.
The likes of Manuel Benson, Anass Zaroury, Josh Cullen, Vitinho and Samuel Bastien all arrived from the Jupiler Pro League across the summer.
There could have been more too, with Burnley also trying late in the window to sign Al-Dakhil from Sint-Truiden.
They rejected the Clarets advances, preferring to keep the 20-year-old for now, a decision his sister insists they are not bitter about.
“He could have learned a lot from Vincent Kompany in Burnley,” Voetbalkrant report him saying.
“Oh well, in football there will always be new opportunities. Moreover, Ameen is happy in Sint-Truiden.
“He can play every week and he is happy there. After his first training session, he was impressed by the warm welcome he received from his new teammates. STVV is like a family, everyone is appreciated.”
