Allan Saint-Maximin has made four league starts this season for Newcastle United and all of them were in August 2022.
The winger picked up a hamstring injury at the end of August and after regaining full fitness in October, he suffered another injury the same month.
He returned to action against Aston Villa on October 29th and has made only one start for Newcastle since then, which came in their EFL Cup win over Crystal Palace in November.
Accoridng to TuttoMercatoWeb, Milan ‘have targeted’ the 25-year-old, who can operate anywhere across the front three.
The Serie A winners have Rafael Leão as one of their key attackers, but his current deal expires in 2024.
He has not signed an extension and Milan are preparing for his potential exit by identifying a few attackers as targets.
This includes Nicolò Zaniolo, but Milan’s proposal [loan with conditional obligation to buy] was not accepted by AS Roma.
Their ‘new idea’ is the Newcastle player, who has found it hard to ‘find the playing time of the past’ under Eddie Howe this season.
It seems like the basis of Milan looking at the Frenchman is because of his limited playing time at the Premier League side to date this campaign.
TMW haven’t taken into account that Saint-Maximin has suffered two injuries and that is why his minutes have been restricted this season, with Howe clearly being cautious with his return rather than the player falling out of favour.
