Leeds United managerial target Marcelo Gallardo is likely to want to wait until the ‘middle of the year’ before listening to offers about a new role.
That’s according to La Pagina Millonaria, who cover what the Argentine coach is currently up to amid claims Leeds are interested in his signature.
Leeds are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Jesse Marsch earlier this week and reports in England have made it clear they have a shortlist of three options they are now looking to explore.
Gallardo is one of those three reportedly on the list, with him currently unattached after leaving River Plate at the end of December.
La Pagina Millonaria say he is currently taking a break after that spell with the Argentine side, needing to ‘stop the ball a bit’ and ‘rest’ after eight draining but successful years.
According to them it is estimated he will only start to listen to offers ‘in the middle of the year’ and not at this point.
That would, therefore, be an obstacle for Leeds to overcome if they do move for him.
The positive is that ‘everything indicates’ his next step will be to Europe so he is at least seemingly interested in an offer being made.
Until that happens he is enjoying his free time and was spotted at a renowned electronic music festival in San Martin de los Andes in the last few hours.
Gallardo has often chosen Patagonia for his vacations and it seems this time is no different, with this festival even taking place in the same location where he took River for pre-season last year.
He was spotted at this festival and drawn into a photo with DJ Mariano Mellino, a further indication of his ‘magnetism’ and ability to ‘arouse admiration’, according to the website.
Leeds, then, know where to find him if they want to push for a move, although it seems they will need to work on convincing him to return from his vacation, which he is clearly enjoying thus far.
