West Ham United could have snatched a draw yesterday away to Manchester City. Despite being dominated for large parts of the game, West Ham turned on the pressure and before getting their third, City looked a little rattled.
There was one point when West Ham had a free kick outside the box, it was Dimitri Payet territory and he was nowhere to be seen.
The French superstar hasn’t been available for West Ham, and that one moment was a perfect example of just how influential the player can be for his club.
There’s been rumours that Payet’s absence is due to a possible transfer, but that seems to be only mischief making.
French newspaper L’Equipe explain the situation as they see it on Monday. It’s explained that yesterday Payet had already travelled to Paris ahead of France’s internationals.
He’s been troubled by a pain at the top of his thigh. Given the recent example with Andre Ayew, Payet has wanted to take no chances at all, he doesn’t want what’s hopefully a small issue turning into something bigger.
L’Equipe say that since the Chelsea match, Payet has only trained twice, on Friday and Saturday.
