With all the chat in England that Burnley are currently trying to sign Wout Weghorst from VfL Wolfsburg, it appears it could actually get done.

This is because Bild in Germany are reporting that the player, as well as Josuha Guilavogui and Daniel Ginczek, was not in training on Friday, adding to speculation he could leave the club.

In search of a new striker since the sale of Chris Wood to Newcastle, Burnley turned their attention to the Dutchman, who has been a regular at the Bundesliga side this season, scoring seven goals and picking up an assist in 24 appearances in all competitions.

That he wants a move to the Premier League is no secret, but there was hope, at least from his end, that he might find himself a club a bit higher up the table than Burnley.

This is what Bild hint at, by saying the one ‘problem’ in all this is that the Clarets are ‘in the highest risk of relegation’, which could ‘raise doubts among the Dutchman about the correctness of a change’.

We’ll have to wait and see if Sean Dyche can be convincing, but right now, it’s heading in the right direction, with him not training with the team, despite the club saying the trio just worked ‘individually’.
