Harry Kane returning to Tottenham Hotspur is a story which has grown over the past couple of weeks in Germany. There’s been claims the striker has a release clause worth around €65m active in a future window.
Whilst that claim has been questioned the idea of a return to Spurs remains.
Kane left Tottenham to pick up silverware. He’s already done that and there’s a good chance he will do so again this season.
Returning to the Premier League and beating Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record is seen as an attraction. Tottenham manager Thomas Frank talking about the prospect has caused a further wobble at Bayern Munich.
Lothar Matthäus tried to talk down the idea earlier this week by convincing himself the record means nothing to Kane.
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has now been asked about it all.
The former Burnley boss also tried to talk it down. Kicker quote him as saying: “Harry is in an excellent phase. The last thing I want is to open the door to other discussions.”
Sporting director Max Eberl added: “He wants to win and titles, and he can do that with us. Our wish is to be very successful with Harry.”
Should the English media continue to push the idea of Kane returning to Tottenham then the wobble will continue. Unless Harry himself dismisses it and spoils all the fun.
