Romain Faivre was set to leave AFC Bournemouth and complete a move to Hellas Verona on deadline day. The Serie A club wanted to sign the 27-year-old on loan with an option to buy and had made advances.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, and he says Hellas Verona reached an agreement with Bournemouth. The deal, which included a €10m purchase option, all seemed to be set.
However, the midfielder didn’t leave the Cherries because he decided to reject the Italian club’s proposal in the final hours of the summer window.
The Frenchman had a ‘last-minute change of heart’, resulting in him blocking his move from Bournemouth to Hellas Verona. Di Marzio hasn’t provided an explanation for why Faivre turned down the move.
Andoni Iraola left him out of the squad for the first three league games [including the EFL Cup], and he was an unused substitute in Bournemouth’s win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Faivre can still move to leagues where the transfer window is still open. If he were to continue at the Premier League side, the midfielder may not be able to get regular game time.
