Aymeric Laporte must decide his future soon. According to reports from Spain, the defender has eight days to accept the Manchester City offer so he can finally join Pep Guardiola this summer.
AS says the Spanish boss has called Laporte this week to tell him about his project at Manchester City, and gave the player a deadline to say if he’s signing for them or not.
Athletic are currently planning to convince Laporte to stay, and they would do that by giving him a pay rise, showing him a new sporting project and not changing his release clause.
This combinations of efforts would be made because the defender would like to stay a bit more in Bilbao, but is worried about closing the doors to bigger clubs. The newspaper also states that Laporte would prefer to join Manchester City than Barcelona.
This article makes a lot of sense if compared to what we’ve covered from El Correo today, as the newspaper from Bilbao also said that Manchester City were ready to pay Laporte’s €50m release clause next week.
Guardiola’s desire to have Laporte in Manchester has been reported for a while, and it finally seems that his saga is coming to an end.
