Villarreal are keen on a deal for Carlos Soler, with West Ham United set to snub an option to sign him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain.

That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who report that Villarreal would like to bring the midfielder back to Spain this summer.

They explain that Villarreal are looking for a midfielder to play alongside Dani Parejo and would be keen on bringing Soler in on loan if he’s available again.

He’s spent this season on loan at West Ham, and they had an option to sign him permanently, but the Hammers have decided against this, with Soler falling out of favour since Graham Potter arrived at the club to replace Julen Lopetegui.

Soler has already been offered to them after West Ham decided against a permanent transfer. The Spanish side like him but the problem is his high salary. Villarreal would need PSG to pay part of this in any loan deal. His current contract in Paris runs until 2027.

There is also interest in him from Italy, Spain and England but all clubs face the same problem with his wages.
