Liverpool loanee Lazar Markovic is set to have his position changed at Sporting.
Despite playing mostly as a right winger, A Bola claims that the manager Jorge Jesus is keen on moving the player to a secondary striker role, so he can play behind the Dutch forward Bas Dost.
The newspaper doesn’t seem to have a special reason why the coach would do that, but questioning Jesus’ decisions isn’t something very smart to do.
Markovic is slowly fitting into the team and it’s still unknown if he’ll start the next game. But in the case he does, it’s likely he’ll play centrally and former Fulham midfielder Bryan Ruiz will be moved to the left.
This seems to be very different treatment to what the Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell is getting from the local media. On Thursday, O Jogo interviewed a coach and a player who worked with him in the past to explain why he couldn’t play wide in a 4-4-2 system.
Campbell has been heavily criticised for not tracking back the, but Markovic’s change looks more like an attempt to fit him in a new role.
