The Sun claiming Everton are interested in Thomas Vermaelen has very quickly made its way to the Catalan media, like any chance of Barcelona selling the defender does.

Over the past few weeks, West Brom and Crystal Palace links, no matter how weak, have been grasped by the Catalan newspapers, as Barcelona struggle to find a way to offload the defender.

The proposed signing of Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad makes things more urgent, as does Vermaelen picking up yet another injury.

Mundo Deportivo say it’s only a mild knee injury, but given Vermaelen’s history it’s certainly something to be worried about.

The Sun claim Ronald Koeman ‘has been tipped off he can do a cheap deal for the Belgian’, but it’s not been a secret, Vermaelen has been openly available for over a year.

Should Koeman interest be correct, and Everton be keen, then a reasonable offer would almost certainly see Vermaelen gift-wrapped, and bubble-wrapped, and sent to Goodison Park with a bow on.
