Kobbie Mainoo has had a difficult past few weeks at Manchester United.

Despite being tempted by summer exit to get more minutes, he stayed at Old Trafford. The midfielder is yet to start once in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim clearly prefers other players over the youngster. This is again causing Mainoo to seriously consider an exit from Manchester United.

Gazzetta dello Sport report the 20-year-old is pushing for a departure in January.

In an attempt to play regular football, he would also be interested in a loan move, especially ahead of the World Cup.

Napoli are keen on, having attempted to sign him in the summer. Mainoo was interested in the switch but the Italian giants changed their priorities and signed Rasmus Højlund due to a Romelu Lukaku injury.

Now, Antonio Conte’s side want to sign a midfielder. Sporting director Giovanni Manna is a long-term admirer and was alerted to the possibility of signing Mainoo in the summer.

Napoli are currently only interested in a loan deal without an obligation to buy. They don’t want to give Manchester United any guarantees of a permanent deal. January is viewed as a risky period to do business by the Naples club.

This is also CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis’ stance, and he has no intention of fully committing himself.

Gazzetta dello Sport state ‘the impression is that the deal could be successful’ if Manchester United accept there’ll be no buying obligation.
