After leaving Watford on a loan to Salernitana in the January transfer window, it seems William Troost-Ekong didn’t have the best of luck at his new club.
The defender even had a good arrival at the Serie A side, with three starts in his first three games. But in the final minutes of his last match, against Hellas Verona, he picked up a knee injury and had to be substituted.
As reported by Salernitana News, the Watford loanee was seen on Wednesday limping and using crutches at the Italian club’s training ground, so they claim he’ll certainly miss their next match against Lazio.
“Now we have to evaluate Troost-Ekong’s injury which seems more serious than we expected.”
Salernitana News points out this is a ‘heavy’ blow for the club, since Troost-Ekong had been a good reinforcement, as he ‘immediately’ became a starter there. Now they wait to see how long will he be sidelined, as when speaking of knee injuries, it’s normal to expect players to be out for a few months.
His loan from Watford also includes a buying option.
