Despite getting Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez back from severe injuries, Liverpool needed an extra body in defence, just in case something similar happens again.

They brought in Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig this summer for that very reason at a costly price of £36m, but another man Jürgen Klopp reportedly targeted was Torino’s Bremer.

It was explained this summer that Liverpool were ‘promptly rejected’ for the Brazilian centre-back after he ‘received courtship’ from the Reds, suggesting he might have been higher up on the German manager’s list than the Frenchman.

Well, with a contract expiring in 2023, Bremer is going to be a wanted man next summer, which Calciomercato make clear, as Inter are now interested.

They claim Torino will value the defender somewhere between €8-10m, and the Serie A side are ‘seriously thinking about it’, meaning they will ‘constantly follow him from now until the end of the year”.

We’ll have to see if this is something Liverpool will do too, or if they have fully given up on him after their purchase of Konaté.

If they are interested, though, he will be cheap and that might just draw the Reds back in.
