Kim Hellberg took over at Middlesbrough after rejecting the opportunity to manage Swansea City instead. The manager preferred the chance to take over a club towards the top of the Championship, and with more strength in the market.

Middlesbrough find themselves second in the league, and have an excellent opportunity to fight for Premier League promotion. The winter market could be key in that, and will have been discussed in negotiations with the manager.

Of course, in Sweden, the concentration will be on whether Hellberg turns to Hammarby. There are multiple players he could conceivably sign for Middlesbrough, either now in the summer.

It’s currently the off season in Sweden, so there’s more focus on transfers.

Kim Hellberg has again been speaking to the Swedish press in recent days and was asked about returning to Hammarby for a signing. The man in question is Victor Eriksson, a 25-year-old central defender.

He has one cap for Sweden, and a contract expiring at the end of 2028.

On the potential transfer, and general business Hellberg is quoted by FotbollDirekt as saying: “Of course I will be part of it, but it is Kieran who will be in charge of the signings together with the chairman.

“Victor Eriksson’s name could of course have been a good name , but we’ll see… Victor is a good player.”
