Today is officially Kepa day, as news keep on rolling out of Spain regarding Chelsea’s expected move to sign the Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper.
It all started on Monday with AS stating the Blues were interested, and could trigger his €80m release clause.
Then came El Correo, a local Bilbao newspaper, who first stated there had been no contact between the shot stopper and the Premier League side, only to update their readers a few hours later, claiming talks had opened, and Chelsea were prepared to pay the required fee.
Marca then revealed the La Liga side had entered panic mode once they learned Maurizio Sarri’s side were keen, and 24 hours had been given to Kepa Arrizabalaga to make his mind up.
Well, things appear to have progressed even more now, as Onda Cero are claiming on Tuesday afternoon that Chelsea will pay the keeper’s clause on Wednesday, meaning the move could be done as early as then.
With this many outlets all joining forces and reporting the same story, it seems like this one really could happen in the coming days.
There’s always the chance Kepa says no, but we doubt that will happen.
