Should Paul Pogba complete his move to Manchester United this window, then that will leave Juventus a player light, but also an awful lot richer.
There have been all kinds of claims about what Juve may do with the money, and many names mentioned.
In their Wednesday edition, Gazzetta dello Sport bring up the possibilities of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko.
With N’Golo Kante arriving at Chelsea from Leicester City this summer, it’s put some doubt over the future of Matic.
Whilst Gazzetta say Antonio Conte could veto an exit for the Serbian, they point out that around €30m may be enough to prise him away from Stamford Bridge.
Then there’s Moussa Sissoko, who has made no secret of his desire to play for a Champions League club. That was the case even before Newcastle were relegated, and it’s obviously intensified since. Gazzetta say the asking price is around €40m.
Yet there’s always the option of doing nothing. Juventus were very strong in the midfield department anyway, and bought Miralem Pjanic from AS Roma earlier this summer.
Fans will be expecting a response if Pogba goes, and Juve may well act.
