Besiktas captain Burak Yilmaz has sent out a rallying cry and told his teammates they have to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow night.
Turkish newspaper Star report Yilmaz spoke with the squad yesterday and informed them they have to give the Besiktas fans hope following their shocking start to the season.
The Super Lig side are currently in the relegation zone after six games and at the weekend they were hammered 4-1 by Trabzonspor.
As paraphrased by Star, Yilmaz said: “We were awful against Trabzonspor. It’s just unacceptable. We have to play better football. Our next game is against Wolverhampton. This will be a very important game for us. We have to beat them. We have to play harder.
“Our fans are expecting us to win so we need to win to give them some hope. If we will win against them, we will relax a bit and other results will follow.”
Yilmaz was ruled put for first few weeks of the season, but has since returned and played in the last two games against Medipol Basaksehir and Trabzonspor.
With both Wolves and Besiktas losing their first group games in the Europe League this will be seen as must win for both clubs.
The two have also faced struggles on the domestic front so far this campaign, so the match is a chance for both to kickstart their season… or slip further into negativity.
