Called up late to the Denmark national team because of an injury to Alexander Bah, Mads Roerslev could be in line for his first ever cap soon.

He was called up to face the press on Thursday as part of his duties for the national, where he sat down with Bold to discuss his season to date with Brentford.

The Bees defender was obviously very happy to be part of the national setup, and will be keen to be given a chance to prove himself amid a campaign that hasn’t quite gone to plan for Thomas Frank’s men.

That’s something the Brentford defender is very aware of, and he tried to give a few reasons why the normally performant team were struggling a bit more this time around.

He said: “We’ve had a lot of injuries in key positions and suspensions. It seems like it just hasn’t clicked in the same way as last season. It’s been more post out than post in in some situations. Hopefully we can glue it together at the end and scrape together a lot of points.”

Brentford currently sit 15th in the Premier League, a good five points ahead of the relegation zone, but four losses in the last five games means they need to turn things around quickly.

The points deduction placed on Nottingham Forest has obviously helped them a bit, but it’s clear from what Roerslev has said that the Bees will not be taking that into account, and will simply work to win as many games as possible in the last nine games of the campaign.
