Colombian journalist Carlos Aleman, who works for Win Sports TV, is reporting on Friday afternoon that James Rodriguez to Everton is close to being a ‘fact’.

Just the ‘fringes’ of the deal need to be finalised, and James himself will soon be travelling to Liverpool to complete the transfer.

Of course, that sounds hugely positive, and it may well be the case, but it’s fair to point out the Colombian media have been very excited about this transfer in recent days, and taking anything said in Europe as the whole truth, adding a little bit, and then repeating it as fact.

That said, there’s also a little positive news from Spain. ABC again explain Jorge Mendes is working on the deal, which will be worth around €30m to Real Madrid.

James would sign a three year contract with Everton, and reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, who he worked with at both Madrid and Bayern Munich.

ABC say the potential transfer is a ‘challenge’ for the player, describing Everton as a ‘classic’ English club, but not currently a ‘great’ one.
