Sheffield United achieved promotion to the Premier League earlier this week and Anel Ahmedhodžić has been an integral part of their squad.
The centre-back has managed four goals and two assists from 32 league games this season. He established himself at the Championship side since joining them from Malmö FF last summer.
Sydsvenskan have interviewed the Sheffield United star’s agent, Markus Rosenberg, and his quotes are relayed by Fotbolltransfers.
The 24-year-old’s representative has explained he and his client had a good feeling about the Blades after holding talks with them last summer.
“When I sat with their coach and he described exactly how they were going to play and use Anel, spoke to the sporting director and had a meeting with Anel and the club, it just felt right,” he said.
Prior to joining Sheffield United, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international was linked to top division clubs across Europe. His agent has admitted he even made trips to Italy to negotiate a potential deal before they finally decided to sign for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
Rosenberg is delighted with Ahmedhodžić’s decision to pick Sheffield United over other top division clubs.
“Anel played in Sweden and for Bosnia Herzegovina. There were many newspapers in several places that got involved in rumours,” Rosenberg explained.
“There were teams in all the top leagues who were interested in him. We were down in Italy a bunch of times, but it never quite felt right and was never as close to the end as it was made out to be. But Anel himself also got the feeling that it was right with Sheffield United.”
