Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will not be Germany’s new coach, his agent says.
Following a rumour which circulated in the local media, with Sportschau claiming that DFB vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke has been making ‘intensive efforts’ for this signing, the chance has now been denied.
In quotes relayed by Sky Deutschland, Klopp’s agent Moark Kosicke told ARD Sportschau that the Liverpool boss is going nowhere for now.
Sky themselves add that, according to their information, the Liverpool boss has ruled out a potential dual role between club and national team.
In charge of the Reds since 2015, Klopp last signed a contract extension with the club in April last year, and is now committed to the Anfield side until 2026.
The German national team announced on Sunday the exit of Hansi Flick due to the poor results he’d been having. His final match in charge was the 4-1 defeat to Japan on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time Klopp has been linked to the job, but it seems it will still take a while until they get a chance to sign him, especially with his agent highlighting how long his contract with Liverpool is.
