Klopp in talks with star and his father ‘many times’ – Liverpool manager ‘insists’ on signing

Jürgen Klopp ‘insists’ on Kylian Mbappé, claim Le10 Sport.

An earlier report from the same outlet explained the Liverpool manager called the Paris Saint-Germain star’s representative.

It’s suggested a phone call to the 21-year-old’s father was to indicate the Reds are interested in the forward and to see what can be done if he ever decides to leave PSG.

Klopp is fixated on the World Cup winner, according to the report, and not only held talks with Mbappé Sr, but he also spoke to the player as well. This has happened ‘many times’, according to the report.

During the conversation, the manager made it clear to the France international that Liverpool are keen to have him.

Despite strong insistence from Klopp, the possibility of a transfer happening remains very low. That’s because Mbappé’s preference is to join Real Madrid, if he were to leave PSG.

He has decided against signing an extension [contract until 2022] with Thomas Tuchel’s side, which is a clear strategy to push a move to the Spanish club in 2021. The equation, however, can change if Zinedine Zidane is no longer the manager at Real Madrid.

Le10’s report only states Klopp is keen on Mbappé and there’s no mention if and how Liverpool will be able to complete a big money move in the post Covid-19 era.

If the Premier League leaders were to sign the Frenchman, they may have to sacrifice a major player, not only to raise funds, but also to make space in the squad.
