On Wednesday, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola reported that Brentford had made a €30m offer for Palmeiras winger Luis Guilherme.
With the winger drawing big interest from European clubs recently, the Bees seemed to have made a strong move to guarantee his signing.
Those claims, however, are now taken back by Nicola himself, as he today shows up to explain the situation.
He acknowledges that even though he said Brentford were willing to pay €30m, that amount is actually Palmeiras’ request for the transfer, while the club also want 20% of a future move.
We should now wait and see whether the Bees would put that much money on the table, while they’re set to have some Premier League competition for the transfer.
That’s because, also according to Nicola, West Ham United now showed up offering €25m for Luis Guilherme. With Palmeiras still holding for the €30m, it seems both the Hammers and Brentford have the chance to find a deal for the youngster soon.
The winger is just 18 years old, and has one goal and one assist in 43 appearances for the first team.
