It ‘wouldn’t be crazy’ if Arne Slot were to swap Feyenoord for a club like Tottenham at the end of the season, if Spurs are keen on his signature.
That’s according to journalist Kenneth Perez, who says he wouldn’t be surprised if Slot were to break any promises he may make to the Dutch club to move to the Premier League.
Slot has been earning himself a reputation for his work with Feyenoord this season, leading them to the top of the Eredivisie ahead of the likes of Ajax and PSV Eindhoven and playing an attractive brand of football to boot.
They have also progressed to the latter stages of the Europa League, and this has earned him and his side plenty of recognition, particularly from England.
He was already linked with a move to Leeds United earlier this year when they were looking for Jesse Marsch’s replacement but now it is Tottenham who are reportedly chasing his signature.
Whether that apparent interest from Tottenham becomes concrete in the coming months remains to be seen but Perez believes Slot would jump at the chance, even if he has given his word to Feyenoord that he would remain where he is.
“I find it hard to say (what he would do),” he told Voetbalpraat, relayed by Feyenoord Pings.
“The moment the right club comes, you may have given your word, but it wouldn’t be crazy if he went along with it.”
That, though, is not an opinion shared by fellow journalist Martijn Krabbendam, who says everyone at the Dutch club assumes Slot will still be in charge next year.
“He still has a two-year contract, so it seems to me that he will stay then,” he stated.
“At Feyenoord they also assume he will still be trainer next year. It also depends a bit on what will happen in the coming time, but normally I think he will stay at Feyenoord for another year.”
