As if Everton fans weren’t getting excited enough at the prospect of Carlo Ancelotti taking charge, the Italian media have decided to throw Zlatan Ibrahimović into the mix.
Ancelotti appears to be edging closer to Goodison Park, with the latest reports suggesting it is all but a done deal.
Should he arrive on Merseyside, then he will likely be expecting significant funds to improve the team in January and help Everton move up the table.
A striker will surely be at the top of the list given their struggles in that department and Ibrahimović is a name that has been mentioned already.
The Swede is out of contract at the minute and Everton are known admirers, with a report last week suggesting they had ‘probed the ground’ with the veteran.
That was the last anyone reported on the issue but now Manuele Baiocchini, a journalist for Sky Italia, has suggested a reunion with Ancelotti, who Ibra scored 35 goals in 46 games for at Paris Saint Germain.
“For Milan, the offer was the best possible, €3m until June and €6m for next year,” he told Pianeta Milan.
“We have to understand what Ibrahimović wants to do because we knew that there was the possibility that he could go to Everton and now that Carlo Ancelotti, who wanted him at Napoli, went there, Everton could take him.
“But I’m only speculating, making everything easier for Ibra to the ‘Toffees ‘. Therefore always further away from Milan, but also from Naples.”
