Leroy Sané to Bayern Munich was one of the big sagas this summer, and it was a tale that had everything for the casual observer.
Bayern were keen on the Manchester City forward, and all signals were that he would be heading to Bavaria sooner rather than later.
We covered a report that stated the two clubs had agreed a €100m deal and Sané would miss the Community Shield clash with Liverpool to avoid any potential injuries scuppering the move.
However, Sané started that game, and inevitably picked up a knee ligament injury that will leave him on the sidelines for most of this season.
That also ended any chance of him joining Bayern this summer, with the Germans instead going out and signing Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perišić.
Next try in winter

The interest remains from the German giants, however, with some suggestions that they would either return in January or next summer.
The former has now seemingly been confirmed, with Bild journalist Christian Falk claiming on social media that Bayern will make a second move for Sané in the winter transfer window.
This was in response to a fan asking about the situation, rather than him outright reporting it, but Falk is well known for his connections at Bayern Munich, so much so that he could be seen as an unofficial spokesperson for the club and if he says it, it’s probably true.
