As Juventus have been linked to a couple of Dutch players lately, outlet TuttoJuve held an interview with someone who knows those players very well.
That’s Bryan Roy, former Oranje player who worked at Ajax’s academy and has been following the development of this new generation of compatriots.
It turns out a reported Manchester United target was named in the story. That’s Joshua Zirkzee, who’s been heavily linked to the Red Devils this week, while AC Milan and Juventus are said to be interested as well.
Asked about the Bologna player, Roy ended up claiming the 23-year-old isn’t ready to play for big clubs yet, which would include Manchester United, as he still has some development to go through first.
“Zirkzee, unlike Koopmeiners, is not yet ready for the big jump. He is still young, he needs another year at Bologna where he can score a lot. It would be important to test himself in the same team but with a different coach. Then he will think about what to do,” said Bryan Roy.
The freshest updates on Manchester United and Zirkzee claim that the Red Devils are in ‘continuous’ talks to sign the Bologna player. The tough factor here is that his agent is said to be demanding a €15m commission.
Zirkzee scored 12 goals last season, playing 37 matches as a striker for Bologna. He scored two goals the previous campaign, from 21 matches.
Roy ended up talking about another player who’s been linked to Manchester United lately, and that’s Matthijs De Ligt. The former Ajax coach, however, believes the defender is staying in Germany.
“I read that Manchester United want him, but I don’t think he will leave. He’s much stronger than the defenders at Bayern today, I’ve seen him in the last few games and he didn’t look in bad shape. Return to Juve? No, he’s already been there. If he leaves, I see him in England or Spain.”
