On Tuesday, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg said Manchester United are back in the picture to sign Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
The striker scored 12 goals and registered seven assists from 37 games last season. AC Milan have found an agreement with him over personal terms, but they haven’t agreed a deal with Bologna so far.
That’s according to Plettenberg, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the latest on Manchester United’s pursuit of the 23-year-old.
Plettenberg says Manchester United have the opportunity to ‘hijack the deal’ from the Serie A side.
Erik ten Hag wants him, and his side are working to find a ‘total verbal agreement’ with the Dutchman. To achieve this, the Red Devils have started ‘concrete talks’ with Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
There’s also been claims in England about the Premier League side’s interest in the striker. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio points it out and then states Manchester United have a ‘concrete interest’ in the frontman.
Di Marzio says Manchester United have ‘made a strong move’ to secure the Bologna star’s services this summer.
Joorabchian is requesting a €15m agent fee, and this is too high for Milan, who are also hoping to lower the transfer fee. With Ten Hag’s side keen, the journalist suggests they may be able to offer a hefty commission to the agent.
