Even though Aston Villa and Vasco da Gama are believed to have an agreement for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, it seems there’s another club trying to hijack the deal.

Lance and Sportv (via Mídia Vascaína) both report that Botafogo are also interested in the midfielder and made an approach for the signing.

Coutinho gives his preference to Vasco, his former club, and isn’t expected to hold talks with any other clubs right now, unless those negotiations collapse.

Botafogo, owned by Crystal Palace shareholder John Textor, seem to be watching the situation and hoping for a chance that they can land him.

Several reports from Brazil continue to say that Coutinho has his contract recision with Aston Villa on the way, and he’s set to join Vasco da Gama for free.

There are no details on what’s stopping the deal right now, although it seems like there isn’t an agreement on personal terms so far.

Botafogo know that Vasco aren’t exactly rich at this point, and that’s why there’s a chance they could find a way into this business.
