On Wednesday, Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee was linked with a move to Atalanta.

A report from TuttoAtalanta claimed sources at the Serie A believe there’s a chance of agreeing a deal for the Dutchman.

Quotidiano Sportivo today bring more on Atalanta potentially signing the Manchester United player. The newspaper states the former Bologna star is Atalanta’s ‘midsummer dream’, with La Dea having previously kept a close eye on Zirkzee during his time at Bayern Munich between 2020 and 2021.

Manchester United are said to value the Netherlands international at €35m and his wage demands of over €5m make Atalanta’s move difficult. The two clubs have a good relationship, having previously dealt for Amad Diallo and Rasmus Højlund.

It’s believed John Murtough, who joined Atalanta after leaving the Red Devils, can play a key role in negotiations. His presence could make negotiations less complex than they would otherwise be.

Should the Bergamo club lose Ademola Lookman, then their Zirkzee pursuit may become more serious.
