Jeff Reine-Adélaïde on why ‘very complicated situation’ at Arsenal led to exit

Jeff Reine-Adélaïde arrived at Arsenal in 2015 with big hopes attached and was soon getting a lot of attention from the club’s fanbase.

Over the past couple of years there were repeat rumours about a possible Arsenal exit, which were at first brushed off, but then the youngster eventually went to Angers on loan for the second half of last season.

Despite picking up an injury, the 20 year old managed to make 10 appearances in Ligue 1 and impressed those in charge of the club.

That taste of senior football also seems to have left a mark on the former Arsenal player and he’s explained to France Football why an exit was needed this summer.

When asked if he has any regrets about his time at Arsenal, Reine-Adélaïde told the French publication: “No. It was hard for me to stay three years there, knowing that I was almost never playing and that I only participated in training. It was a very complicated situation.”

That frustration may well be a good thing for the youngster’s career, he clearly wants to play and explained he doesn’t just want to be considered as one for the future any longer.

On why he chose a return to Angers, this time on a permanent transfer, the midfielder said: “It was not easy to leave Arsenal but the loan I made here last season from February to May weighed heavily… It’s a family club here, I needed that.”
