The only English team to pick up all three points in the two European competitions being played on Thursday evening, West Ham thumped Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in Croatia in the Europa League.
It was a convincing win from David Moyes’ men, who probably could and should have scored more, completely nullifying their opponents in the process, as Lukasz Fabianski watched on for most of the game.
Goals from Michail Antonio and Declan Rice secured the victory, but one man who also featured for 69 minutes was Nikola Vlasic, who returned to his home country and got a chance to face some of his national teammates in the process.
Speaking after the game to Arena Sport, relayed by Index, the new West Ham star gave his early impressions of his time at West Ham so far, and the impact David Moyes has had since his arrival.
He said: “It was easier for us after the goal from Dinamo’s mistake, but we deservedly won. We had some more chances and it could have been more convincing. I’ve been here for a week and I’ve never been so ready for a game.
“I think the manager, Moyes, is really doing a great job and that was seen today. Dinamo are a great team, we know that, they have shown that in recent years. We prepared well and we executed the plan very well, and I don’t think Dinamo could do more than this”.
Only featuring for 96 minutes in two games so far, Vlasic is still settling in to his new surroundings, but if his time at CSKA Moscow is anything to go by, West Ham fans have a lot to look forward to, as the Croatian found the back of the net 33 times and assisted another 21 goals in 108 appearances for the Russian side.
