Che Adams joined Torino after leaving Southampton as a free agent in 2024. He spent five years at St Mary’s and scored 48 times in 191 games.

Since his arrival at Torino, Adams has become a key player for the Italian side. Last season, he scored nine Serie A goals and was seen as a good addition.

In the current campaign, he’s found the back of the net twice and has become a regular under Marco Baroni.

Torino take on Juventus in a massive Turin derby this weekend. Ahead of the tie, Adams has spoken to La Stampa.

Speaking about his life in Italy, Adams said: “Italian football is fantastic, we often talk about it at the Scottish national team training camps with McTominay, Ferguson, and the others.

“We’re very close, we enjoy competing, and being part of such a competitive league makes us proud and makes us stronger.”

Big change from Southampton

The former Southampton man believes it is more difficult being a striker in Italy when compared to England.

“It’s tough for a striker here. As soon as you have the ball, the defenders are all over you. At first, I was amazed by the difficulties.

“I was talking about it with Duvan [Zapata] the other day. It’s incredible to think that he managed to score over a hundred goals in a similar environment. Those numbers speak volumes about his strength.”

The 29-year-old also spoke about his life in Turin.

“It’s a fantastic city. My family and I have a great time: there’s so much to do and see, and the people are welcoming.”

During his time at Southampton, Adams highest goalscoring tally in the Premier League was nine. He has already reached that mark in his first Serie A season.

Injuries have been a problem for him, but if he stays fit this season, he can have his best goalscoring season in the top-flight.

Adams missed the last Turin derby due to injury. Scoring against Juve in the game on Saturday will see him become a fan favourite.
