Alexis Mac Allister signed a new contract at Brighton & Hove Albion last October and his deal runs down in 2025, with the Seagulls having an option to extend it by a year.
The Argentina international was part of the squad that won the World Cup two months ago in Qatar.
Mac Allister’s displays for his country and Brighton have helped him attract interest from clubs across Europe.
Earlier on Friday, Argentina journalist Gastón Edul reported the midfielder’s father, Carlos, will make a trip to England to decide his future. Edul had also stated the 24-year-old could leave the Premier League side at the end of this season.
Carlos has now confirmed this report during an interview with TyC Sports. Mac Allister Sr has stressed Alexis has set his sights on leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the summer, after deciding against leaving Brighton in January.
“For now, he is at Brighton. It seems to me a very good thing that he has returned from the World Cup and has not despaired about leaving, enjoying success calmly and in peace, in a team that loves him very much. The reception he received has been the best. He is very well in the club,” Carlos said.
“We all know that in July there will be possibilities to be able to leave. But prior to the World Cup, Alexis renewed his contract so that the club also has the opportunity of an important transfer, so that a lot can reach Brighton. It’s the idea.”
Carlos hasn’t detailed the potential destinations the Brighton star currently has in mind.
