Manchester United put in a much better performance than they’ve been dishing up recently to seal a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The widespread belief was that Arne Slot’s side would easily beat their North West rivals, with many predicting a battering, but the match turned into a real contest and Ruben Amorim’s men could even have won it with one of the last kicks of the game.

The first goal of the match came for Manchester United, and via defender Lisandro Martinez.

After the game, his Argentine teammate Alexis Mac Allister spoke to the media about his compatriot finding the back of the net, which isn’t something he’s used to seeing.

TyC Sports cover the Liverpool player’s comments and say Mac Allister aimed a ‘hilarious jab’ towards his Manchester United rival.

It’s explained the two are good friends off the pitch, and the midfielder is then quoted as saying: “I have a very good relationship with Licha. It’s incredible, because he doesn’t score a goal against anyone, but he scores a goal against us. So nothing, I teased him a bit.”

After his goal, Martinez celebrated by placing the ball under his jersey, indicating he’s expecting a baby with his partner. On that, Mac Allister said: “I’ll probably stop by to say hello and chat for a while. And well, I wish him the best. I knew that his wife is pregnant, so I hope he comes back full of joy, good health and that they can be very happy as a family.”

The Argentina pair will expect to meet up for March’s international break.
