Arsenal are said to be in the picture to sign BK Häcken’s Silas Andersen.

Two days ago, Ekstra Bladet reported the Gunners have scouted the 21-year-old often this season. They also stated an Arsenal official was expected to watch him live against RC Strasbourg on Thursday.

The defensive midfielder played the full 90 minutes in BK Häcken’s 2-1 defeat to the Ligue 1 side yesterday.

After the match, he was specifically asked about the recent claims of Arsenal interest, and Fotboll Skanalen have relayed his comments.

With regards to the Arsenal links, he said: “I don’t know. I’ll let my agent work on it. I don’t know much.”

The Dane made it clear he hasn’t heard himself about the Gunners. When asked how he feels about it, Andersen explained: “It’s a big club. I would be happy.”

His agent has told him about interest from elsewhere, without specifying the details. However, the player is unaware whether a move away from BK Häcken is possible in January.

“There is a lot of interest. Now people have to make a move, but we’ll see,” he added.

“I have no idea [about January move]. It’s something I need to talk to Martin [Ericsson, football director] and Erik [Friberg, sports director] about it.”

That didn’t stop the Dane from admitting that he feels ready to make a big jump in his career.

“I’m aiming for the highest possible. That’s my goal. Yes. I feel like I’ve shown myself and what I can do. I think I’m ready, but we’ll see,” the player said.

For now, Arsenal have only sent their scout to keep a close watch on him.
