“It’d be a dream” – Premier League star makes it clear he’d love Chelsea transfer

Argentine outlet Olé have conducted quite a long interview with Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.

Besides all the things he had to say about his good season with the Seagulls, there were obviously some questions regarding Graham Potter and the manager’s departure to Chelsea.

Caicedo was first asked if the coach’s departure from Brighton ‘hurt’ him, and what having him as a boss represented in his career.

“Potter gave me the opportunity to debut in the Premier League, something I was preparing for and suffered a lot for before. I’d have loved to debut earlier, but I think that was the right time and God put things in their place,” Caicedo told Olé.

“I’ve been preparing to make a great start and when I come in to play, I won’t come out anymore. So far I have achieved it: I am contributing a lot to the team and I like how we are playing. I am very grateful to Potter and his coaching staff because they gave me the opportunity to show myself.”

Directly on the manager moving to Chelsea earlier this month, Caicedo said: “It made me very sad now that he left for Chelsea, because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football. You never know: today you can be here and tomorrow somewhere else, that’s the job of a footballer and a coach. At Brighton he worked very well and people love him very much. I’m very happy for him and for the great opportunity that was presented to him.”

With Potter and Caicedo having a good relationship, Olé then presented the inevitable question regarding the midfielder’s potential move to Chelsea, as that became a rumour as soon as the manager took charge of the Stamford Bridge side.

“Right now I’m very focused on Brighton and the World Cup. I want to have a great World Cup and then we’ll see what happens. I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”

Caicedo’s potential move to Chelsea wasn’t the only rumour approached in the interview, as he also talked about a switch to Manchester United, in a story we covered earlier today.

Despite a tough start at Brighton, Caicedo became a player of huge importance at the club this season, starting in all matches and even scoring a goal in the 5-2 win over Leicester City.
